Ahree Song

Born in 1984 in Seoul, South Korea

Ahree Song is a Korean contemporary artist. She received a BFA (2010) and an MFA (2015) both in sculpture from Seoul National University. In 2017, she received a master's degree in fine arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York, USA, and a doctorate in sculpture from Seoul National University, Korea in 2023. Ahree deals with how the ideas and experiences of the variant body are materialized into performative sculptures. Her works are housed in the Seoul National University and Daekyo Culture Foundation in the South Korea and have been reviewed in The Washington Post, Culture Times, The Kukmin Ilbo and The Chosun Ilbo, among others. Ahree’s work has been the focus of solo presentations at the Gallery Doll, Seoul, Korea (2020); All That Curating, Seoul, Korea (2020); Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA Bunker), Seoul, Korea (2022). Her work has been included in numerous group exhibitions, including those at the Windmil, Seoul, Korea (2021); Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, Korea (2022); The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C., Washington D.C., US (2022).
